Four Ways to Save In The Office

Posted On: March 9, 2020

Reducing the operational costs of your business can translate to a higher profit margin over time. If you are looking for ways to cut your business’ energy costs, inspiring employees to follow rules that work at home is a great place to start. Check out these conservation tips and learn how to cut back on the job.

Choose A Long-Term Energy Contract

Long term contracts are often paired with fixed rates that will protect your business from rising energy costs no matter what happens in the market. If you are renting a commercial space, consider aligning the length of your lease with the length of your energy contract to lock in savings over the life of both agreements.

Don’t Forget to Unplug It
Coffeemakers, television screens, printers, monitors and other office equipment will continue to drain energy well after the workday is done. Don’t be afraid to unplug them between uses or utilizing power strips to make it easier to shut everything down once the office is closed.

Put a Limit on Lighting
Install sensor lights or timers that turn off when no one is inside a room to reduce wasted energy. You can also post signs that remind your employees to shut off lights when not in use.

Encourage Remote Work

An employee at home won’t be able to use electricity in the office. Offer your employees the option to work from home one or two days a week and ensure their work areas aren’t using energy in their absence. They’ll thank you with increased productivity and the extra savings will show up on your energy bill.
