Dallas Company Cited For Employee Growth
10-05-2007 – Stream Energy, one of the fastest growing new enterprises in the history of American business, received a Greater Dallas Chamber of Commerce 2007 Momentum Award during special award ceremonies at the Crescent Court Hotel Thursday night.
Stream Energy was announced by the Greater Dallas Chamber as the winner of its annual Momentum Award for Local Employee Growth as a result of its dynamic increase in employment during the past year. The firm’s full-time employment rolls grew by more than 160 percent (from 114 to 296) between June 1, 2006 and July 31, 2007 and continues to expand at a record pace set by increasing customer recruitment levels.
Stream Energy also recently announced plans to increase the size of its corporate headquarters at the INFOMART in Dallas by an additional 150,000 square feet.
Rob Snyder, co-founder and chairman of Stream Energy, said it is rewarding to be recognized by the Greater Dallas Chamber of Commerce after being in business for less than three years.
“The Stream Energy story has been amazing to me,” Snyder said. “There is no doubt that fortune has smiled kindly upon our work. But our success is also rooted in copious amounts of hard work and a breadth of dedicated people. This acknowledgment by the Greater Dallas Chamber of our efforts evidenced by this wonderful award is deeply gratifying.”
The Texas Public Utilities Commission licensed Stream Energy as a Retail Electric Provider in 2005. During its first year, Stream Energy signed up approximately 64,000 electricity customers. That number has risen to approximately 300,000 in 2007 — only two years later. Few if any American businesses have experienced that large an increase in customers in such a short period of time.
The Momentum Awards are given each year to Dallas-area companies that have increased employment in the marketplace, invested in the community or brought economic development through technology and innovative ideas. The Greater Dallas Chamber of Commerce created the awards to honor those companies that have created positive momentum for the economy in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex.
