(Dallas, Texas October 18, 2010) – Stream Energy announced today start of operations in the Pennsylvania electricity market.

Stream Energy will begin accepting residential customers’ requests for service in the PPL service area in southeastern Pennsylvania in early November, and within the state’s PECO service territory in the Philadelphia market beginning January 1, 2011. Stream Energy is timing entry into Pennsylvania to coincide with the removal of utility price caps by the state’s Public Utility Commission as part of the Pennsylvania deregulation schedule.

“We believe Pennsylvanians will be a good match for our business model of direct sales to customers,” said Stream Energy Chairman Rob Snyder. “Our wholly-owned marketing arm, Ignite, provides one-to-one education for consumers, and has helped hundreds of thousands of Texans and Georgians find answers to their questions about deregulation from someone they know and trust.”

“We also hope that many Pennsylvanians will see an opportunity for their families to earn income with a retailer that has a proven income-generation model,” he added. The full service network marketing approach utilized by the Ignite sales organization uses a familiar “person-to-person” marketing methodology that has shared the firm’s noted success with its army of 170,000+ independent associates.

Dallas-based Stream Energy is the longest-tenured direct seller of energy in America. Moreover, Stream Energy’s business model, evoked by the catch phrase “It’s OK to switch. Really®,” has helped propel the successful deregulation of retail energy within Texas and Georgia.

Stream Energy and Ignite now claim annual revenues exceeding $900 million during the firm’s fifth full year of operations, marketing electricity in Texas and natural gas in Georgia. Stream Energy has recently again been named a finalist in the Rising Star category of the prestigious Platts Global Energy Awards, while Ignite was recently ranked 16th internationally on the list of the top Direct Selling Companies in the World.

This announcement concerning the firm’s expansion into Pennsylvania occurred at the annual “Power Surge” in Houston, where thousands of Stream Energy and Ignite independent associates reacted with thunderous enthusiasm.
